November BookClub
November is finally here! Am I the only one who has felt like this has been a very fast and slow year all at the same time? There has been so much change and so many difficulties that have had to be overcome and many joys that have been experienced.
What have you experienced this year?
Today we are introducing our book of the month and this month I have chosen 7 Women and the secrets of their greatness by Eric Metaxas!
Why? Because its very good to be remined of women who have gone before us who we can be encouraged by!
You will get a wonderful glimpse into the lives of…
Joan of Arc
Susanna Wesley
Hannah More
Saint Maria of Paris
Corrie ten Boom
Rosa Parks
Mother Teresa
All these women had joys and sorrows, gone through hard times and good times – they lived their lives here on earth in dedication to the Lord and to His will for their lives. Fulfilling Ephesians 2:10
You will be encouraged after reading the heroism of the young teenager Joan of Arc as she heard God’s command, obeying Him even in the face of opposition, and led the French army to a mighty victory over the British.
You will meet Susanna Wesley, mother of 19 children, the mother of two of the greatest evangelist’s and hymn writer of all time – the famous John and Charles Wesley!
Then you will head over to Corrie ten Boom who risked her life to hid Dutch Jews from the Nazis in WWII and yet somehow survived the horrors of a concentration camp. But her greatest feat was when she met her tormentors years later and forgave them.
Then you will come back to the US and meet Rosa Parks a women of God who had a strong sense of God-given justice and unshakable dignity that helped launch the 20th century’s greatest social movement.
Eric Metaxas has a way of writing that captivates you as you read about each of these ladies, you simply can not stop reading about each of these women and what they overcame, went through, and suffered all while holding on to Christlikeness and living it out. I’m sure they had their moments, but each woman chose to live in the strength of the LORD leaning on Him. Because they chose to live their lives in such a way we can be encouraged today, while reading their stories. We can see how to live our own lives in a godly way that pleases the LORD and is worth emulating for others!
I do hope you join us as we read this book and that you enjoy it as much as I have!!!
